Sanctuary city

A recent study conducted by the European Commission has unveiled Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, among the cities perceived as least hospitable for immigrants. The research was based on responses from European citizens regarding their cities' suitability for immigrants, as reported by RSE.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Sept. 11 granted a request by President Donald Trump's administration to fully enforce a new rule that would curtail asylum applications by immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, a key element of his hardline immigration policies.

U.S. immigration lawyers are telling Central Americans in a caravan of asylum-seekers that traveled through Mexico to the border with San Diego that they face possible separation from their children and detention for many months. They say they want to prepare them for the worst possible outcome.

Chicago sued on Aug. 7 to prevent the Trump administration from enforcing new policies that would withhold money from so-called sanctuary cities that deny U.S. immigration officials access to local jails.
