Mongolian-flagged dry cargo vessel splits in half off Istanbul coast

A Mongolian-flagged dry cargo vessel built in 1975 split in half off the coast of the Istanbul district of Sarıyer late on Aug. 26.

The 114-meter freighter, named "Leonardo," was heading for repairs before splitting in half off of Demirciköy. 

Eleven crew of the dry cargo vessel were rescued by coastal safety units dispatched from eight coast guard vessels.

Istanbul City Lines to launch four new ferry routes for summer

The Istanbul City Lines will launch four more new ferry lines crossing the Bosphorus, covering the period between June 5 and Sept. 17, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The new lines connect neighborhoods on the European and Asian continent of the congested city, running between Eminönü-Sarıyer, Beykoz-Üsküdar, Bostancı-Karaköy, and Ortaköy-Üsküdar.

The incident occurred at 20:15 p.m. in Istanbul's Maslak Square.

Russian naval ship, cargo vessel collide off Istanbul coast, all soldiers rescued

A Russian naval intelligence ship sank off Turkey's Black Sea coast on April 27 after colliding with a vessel carrying livestock, Turkey's Coast Guard said, noting that all 78 personnel on board were evacuated.

The ship, identified as the Liman, collided with the Togo-flagged Youzarsif H., the authority said on its website.
