Athens taxi drivers to strike on Monday

Athens taxi drivers will be off the streets on Monday, according to an announcement from their union, SATA.

The 24-hour strike will begin at 5 a.m. on Monday and end at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

SATA is protesting new tax and insurance laws, as well as the planned transition to electric vehicles starting in 2026, which taxi drivers say will threaten their profession.

No taxis in Athens on Monday

Taxi drivers will hold a protest rally at the Transport Ministry starting on Spyrou Patsi & Athinon Avenue near the city center at 9.30 a.m.
