BELGRADE - A bicycle festival entitled Beograd Velograd will be held in Belgrade on June 14 with the goal of promoting urban cycling, that is cycling as a mode of transportation in the Serbian capital.

The ride will start at Trg Republike at 4 p.m. and finish at Savamala, the organisers told a news conference.

Besides numerous exhibitions, the festival running from May 8 to 31 under the overarching theme of "Public Space", includes 16 workshops as well as 10 tours.

Alongside domestic experts in the field, the international guests at the festival are Hans Nevidal from Austria, Geir Brendeland from Norway and Zef Hemel from The Netherlands.

The Serbian capital was sixth on the list that the Huffington Post published in late March.

“Serbia’s fierce history gives beauty an edge in Belgrade, where Soviet blocks nestle between modern artistic masterpieces. The city radiates an outdoor lifestyle: During Easter, the rivers spring to life with cruises, floating bars, and clubs—called splavovi,” the web magazine said.
