Bulgaria's last King and former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha has urged a more pragmatic approach between Bulgaria and Russia based on what is useful in bilateral ties.

"There is now some tension between our countries, but I am not saying it will last long," he has told TASS news agency [RU]. 

Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his sister Maria-Louisa have lost the case for the Sitnyakovo royal residence at the court of second instance, according to a media statement of the Sofia Appellate Court.

Under the ruling of the Sofia Appellate Court, as cited by Trud daily, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his sister are not the owners of the property.

Prince Kardam, the eldest son of Bulgaria's last King and former premier (2001-2005) Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, has passed away, BGNES reported.

Kardam, 52, passed away at 11:30 am on Tuesday at the Madrid university hospital of Sanchinarro from a respiratory infection after being permanently immobilised for nearly seven years.

More than 100 Bulgarian intellectuals, politicians and public  figures have launched an initiative aimed at fully utilizing the international authority of Bulgaria's last King and former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to the country's benefit.
