Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși at Târgu Jiu

Romania has a unique ambassador in the world in the artist Constantin Brancusi, who continues to represent us with great honour even after his passing away, Minister of Culture Bogdan Gheorghiu says in a message on February 19, Constantin Brancusi National Day. "Today, February 19, marks the 145th birth anniversary of the great sculptor Constantin Brancusi.

A series of events meant to bring to the public's attention the work of famous sculptor Constantin Brancusi will be organised on Wednesday in Bucharest and Targu Jiu. Several openings will take place, marking the 144th anniversary of the famous sculptor's birth.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila says in a message on Constantin Brancusi National Day that February 19 is a tribute to the great Romanian artist who carried with him all over the world the Romanian national identity, adding that it is a day that we honor "the sculptor, the visionary, the genius, the maker of shapes inspired by tradition that became reference works of modern sculpture."

Romania is set to re-submit its application in early 2018 for UNESCO to include an 80-year-old sculptural ensemble by French-Romanian artist Constantin Brancusi in its world patrimony, two years after the first application had to be withdrawn due to mistakes in the documentation.
