Measures to support the entrepreneurs of the municipalities of Volo and South Pelion who were adversely affected by the extreme phenomenon of dead fish in Pagasitikos Gulf were announced by the relevant ministries on Saturday, following a meeting.

The quality of bathing water at 95.8% of bathing sites in Greece is of excellent quality, based on the latest figures released by the European Environmental Agency and the European Commission on the state of Europe's bathing waters in 2023, which were updated on Tuesday.

Europe's inland and coastal waters have become cleaner and nations such as heavily-indebted Greece and Cyprus boast some of the most pristine bathing spots, according to this year's EU report on water quality, published on Wednesday.

In a bid to make bathing waters safer, port police have announced that a ban on personal watercraft and jetboats will be introduced off the coast of Freatida and Votsalakia on Athens?s southern coast during peak bathing hours.

All but one Bulgarian coastal bathing waters met the sufficient water quality in 2013, according to the EU Environment Agency latest data.

A total of 98.9% of all 93 coastal bathing waters in the country have met the mandatory water quality in 2013.
