Gala organized for Chekhov's 'The Seagull' in Istanbul

A gala night was organized on Nov. 21 for one of the masterpieces of the great Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov, "The Seagull," staged by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Theater. 

Speaking to state-run Anadolu Agency, director Yıldırım Urağ said Chekhov was very important to him and he was delighted to stage him in Istanbul.

Russian Ballet Legend Maya Plisetskaya Dies at 89

World-renowned Russian ballet dancer Maya Plisetskaya has died at the age of 89. TASS has reported.

The Russian news agency quoted Bolshoi Theater Director General Vladimir Urin as saying Plisetskaya's composer husband Rodion Shchedrin has called him to say Plisetskaya has died of a heart failure in Germany on Saturday.
