Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had met Sebastian Kurz in June 2014 when the latter politician was Austria's Foreign Minister.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 9 criticized Austrian Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz for his government's decision to shut down seven mosques and expel 40 imams, warning of a "crusader-crescent war."

Austria's right-wing coalition government, which is strongly opposed to Turkey joining the European Union, will bar Turkish politicians from campaigning on its territory ahead of snap June elections, the country's chancellor has said.

Austria is ready to become a mediator to settle disagreements between the UK and Russia over the Sergei Skripal case. This was announced by Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, quoted by TASS.

"We are open to everyone, and if we are to ask for mediation efforts (between Russia and the UK), we are happy and ready for that," said Kneissl, in front of the Austrian TV channel OER Ef 2.

On the eve of the EU-Turkey Summit today in Varna, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called for the suspension of any talks on Turkey's accession to the EU. "The accession conditions are not fulfilled and therefore the pre-accession talks must be ended with Turkey," Kurtz told the German edition of Die Welt.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz arrives today on a working visit to Sofia, BNR reports. Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Kurz will discuss the continuity in the topics of the Bulgarian and Austrian presidencies of the Council of the European Union.

The postponed working visit of Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz will be held on 15th of March, the government's press office announced. Kurz's arrival in Sofia was planned for today, 20th of February, but health reasons delayed his visit.

Today Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz arrives on a visit to Bulgaria. He will discuss with the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov the bilateral relations as well as the cooperation within the EU, the government press service announced.
