Exhibition dedicated to Patriarch Pavle opens

BELGRADE - An exhibition containing the legacy of former Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Pavle was opened at the Museum of the SPC to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth and the 5th anniversary of his death.

The exhibition was opened by Patriarch Irinej, who said that the event and the items on display would show that Pavle had lived modestly, as a normal person.

BELGRADE -- Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia was on Friday awarded an honorary doctorate of the University of Belgrade (UB).

The accolade came for his exceptional contribution to higher education in theology and promoting the scientific thought in systematic theology, the university said.

Patriarch Kirill, who is on a three-day visit to Serbia, said that Russia has always been with the Serbian nation, in joy and in sadness.

Serbian Church Plays Host to Russian Patriarch

Patriarch Kirill praised ties between Orthodox Russia and Serbia at the start of a three-day visit to Belgrade, during which he will bless a statue of Russia's last Tsar.

"Our churches are bound together to preserve the trust between peoples, which is of a great importance," Kirill said at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport.

BELGRADE - I feel at home in Serbia, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said upon arriving at the Belgrade airport on Friday.

He was welcomed by Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

Greeting his hosts, Patriarch Kirill expressed sincere joy at setting foot on soil that is close to the Russian heart.
