British climber's remains found in Swiss Alps, 52 years on

The remains of a climber discovered in the Swiss Alps last year have been identified as a British mountaineer who went missing 52 years ago, local police said on Aug. 31.

It is the latest in a series of discoveries of remains of long-missing climbers revealed as the Alp's glaciers melt and recede because of global warming.

On September 23, two Elbrus climbers were reported to be in intensive care, according to the regional ministry of health on Friday.

"Yesterday, 11 victims were transported to the Republican Clinical Hospital by the disaster medicine brigade; two of them, including a guide from Karachay-Cherkessia and a tourist from St. Petersburg," the agency's interlocutor said.

Mother Ran Over her 3-Year-Old Child While Parking

A three-year-old child died on Sunday evening after its mother, run over him in an attempt to park her off-road jeep.

The ridiculous accident occurred on a parking in the centre of the town Mont Blanc, located in the northeastern province of Catalonia.

According to the local police, the woman said she hadn't seen the child, and she didn't know exactly where it was.

“The mountain does not want strength, it wants soul,” Christina Flamboura told Athens News Agency (AMNA).

'Bulgarian National' Dies on Mount Elbrus

A mountaineer who died while climbing up Elbrus, in the Northern Caucasus, is a Bulgarian national, Russia's RIA Novosti agency reports.

His body was found earlier on Thursday by a group of climbers, at a height of 4900 m (the peak itself is at an altitude of 5642 m).

As many as 12 rescuers arrived at the scene, taking the body down to hand it over to forensics.
