German authorities are set to erect a monument to honor the first generation of Turkish workers, acknowledging their significant contribution to economic development in Germany.
Fourteen Turkish-origin Germans elected to Bundestag
Fourteen Turkish-origin German citizens were elected to Germany's Bundestag in the Sept. 24 general elections.
According to the temporary initial results, Aydan Özoğuz, Metin Hakverdi, Mahmut Özdemir, Cansel Kızıltepe, Gülistan Yüksel and Elvan Korkmaz were elected on the ranks of the Social Democrats (SPD).

German authorities are investigating 20 Turkish citizens on suspicion of conducting espionage in Germany, a newspaper reported on April 6.
Die Welt said it received the information in an official government response to a question about the issue filed by Sevim Dağdelen, a German lawmaker with the hard left party Die Linke.
