Russian Officials Identify Terrorist Attack as Cause of Sinai Airplane Crash

According to Russian officials, the cause of the crash of the Kogalymavia airplane in Egypt's Sinai peninsula on October 31 was a terrorist attack.

The Airbus A321 was conducting flight 9268 between the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and Saint Petersburg when it crashed in North Sinai shortly after take-off.

Investigators '90 percent sure' bomb downed Russian flight in Egypt

Investigators of the Russian plane crash in Egypt are "90 percent sure" the noise heard in the final second of a cockpit recording was an explosion caused by a bomb, a member of the investigation team told Reuters Nov. 8, as countries increased their efforts to get their stranded citizens out of Egypt.

About 11,000 Russian tourists have been evacuated from Egypt over the past 24 hours in the aftermath of the deadly Russian plane crash, according to official data, TASS reported on Sunday.

Security concerns have been raised at Sharm el-Sheikh airport after a British tourist said he was offered the chance to pay 30 pounds to skip queues and baggage checks, as Independent reports.

Dale Parkyn visited the Egyptian resort with his wife earlier this year and told Sky News that a man in military uniform approached them and asked if they wanted to avoid the long queues.
