U.S. President Donald Trump said on April 11 that "missiles will be coming" in response to an alleged chemical attack in Syria, defying Russian warnings against a strike.

U.S. President Donald Trump's warning to the Syrian government not to carry out a chemical weapons attack appears to have worked, Pentagon chief Jim Mattis said on June 28.

"It appears that they took the warning seriously," Mattis said, referring to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Russian Foreign Minister Segey Lavrov had a phone contact with his US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed in a press release.
