During a roadshow in London, National Bank officials have observed particularly strong investor interest in the lender’s 750-million-euro bond issue and the planned share capital increase of 2.5 billion euros.

Greece's third largest lender Eurobank, which is issuing new shares to help plug a capital shortfall, said on Friday that the cash call will take place from April 25 to 29.

National Bank of Greece has almost finished drafting its definitive plan to cover the lender’s capital requirements as determined by its Bank of Greece stress test, and a share capital increase may be on the cards after all.

US and British investors bought the bulk of Alpha Bank’s 1.2-billion-euro new share issue, it said on Friday, providing further evidence that foreign investors are warming to Greece.

Alpha Bank has enough demand for all its stock as the Greek lender joined Piraeus Bank in selling 3 billion euros in shares to bolster capital, two people with knowledge of the matter said.
