Police in Kosovo arrested six people as part of an investigation into an alleged land scam that cost the state 30 million euros, the prosecution office said on Wednesday.

Azem Syla, a prominent legislator from the ruling party, was the alleged leader of the fraud which is believed to have involved 40 people, the EU police mission in Kosovo said.

"How can we celebrate independence when the situation is like this? There is no progress that we can see," Astrit Hajrullahu said.

He and his friend had come out to assist in decorating the Newborn monument, dedicated to Kosovo's independence, which is repainted every year.

Kosovo's capital Pristina has shown interest in the Bulgarian public transport as a model for its own  urban planning.

Speaking for the public broadcaster BNR, Pristina's Mayor Shpend Ahmeti said that well-functioning public transport would help to stop the massive flow of cars into Pristina's center.
