Siberian Tiger Re-population Project

Staff at the zoo in the Polish town of Plock first noticed the sound, not the sight, of two Siberian tiger cubs born in late April, keeper Malgorzata Trzcinska said, introducing the first of the breed born in the country this year.

Caspian tigers became extinct in the 1960s when the last feline predator died. The Caspian tigers were one of the largest subspecies to ever roam the earth, with their average body length being around 3 metres. Males weighed 170–240 kg.
