Veteran filmmaker Nikos Koundouros dies at home aged 91
The veteran Greek film director Nikos Koundouros died at his Athens home on Wednesday at the age of 91.
Best known for his 1956 feature-length film "O Drakos" (The Ogre of Athens), a landmark film noir, Koundouros had been hospitalized recently with respiratory problems.

Radu Jude, about "Aferim!": We could have just as well done it as a colour or sepia film
I believe that this film would have functioned pretty much of the same manner if we did it as a colour or sepia film, instead of making it black&white, film director Radu Jude said after the first premiere dedicated to the critics and media of his "Aferim!" film, for which he received the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival.

Jafar Panahi, the Iranian dissident director who is banned from making films by the Iranian state has won this year's Berlinale Golden Bear for his film "Taxi."
In his film, that was described as a masterpiece by the critics, the Iranian director stars as a taxi driver engaging his passengers in dialogue as he drives them through the streets of Tehran.
