Steve Maman, a Jewish businessman from Canada, has earned the title “The Jewish Schindler” for his extraordinary efforts in rescuing hundreds of Yazidi children abducted by ISIS. Born in Morocco in 1973, Maman moved to Canada with his family, where he eventually became a successful luxury car dealer.

A 21-year-old Yazidi woman, who was kidnapped by the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq more than a decade ago, has been freed from Gaza in a coordinated operation involving the United States, Iraq, Israel, and Jordan. The woman, named Fauzia Sido, is from the Yazidi religious minority, which has faced brutal attacks from ISIS.

Six PKK terrorists have been neutralized in the regions of the Operation Claw-Lock and Operation Claw-Tiger, the Turkish Defense Ministry has said.

Posting a tweet about the latest operations against the terror organization, the ministry said, "Six terrorists neutralized."

"No stop, no tiredness. Fight continues," the ministry noted.

The Ezidi community, which escaped from Iraq's Sinjar district and took refuge in Duhok province after ISIL took control of the region, is unable to return to their homes because of oppression by the PKK and the terror group's extensions in the region, Turkey's consul general in Erbil said on April 1.

A Peshmerga commander based in Sinjar in northern Iraq has said the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is maintaining its presence in Iraq's Sinjar region despite Turkey's calls for its evacuation, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The European Parliament on Oct. 27 awarded its Sakharov Prize to Nadia Murad and Lamiya Aji Bashar, two Iraqi Yazidi women who were held as sex slaves by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants and have campaigned for human rights since escaping. 

Asylum seekers who have fled conflicts in Iraq and Syria are still not formally recognized as refugees in Turkey, while Yazidis are not afforded equal rights, a new report by the Diyarbak?r Bar Association Children's Rights Center has found.

About 40 tunnels were uncovered by Kurdish forces who liberated Sinjar, a town in north-west Iraq this month. The town was under Islamic State rule for over a year.

The tunnels found had sleeping quarters, electricity, sandbags, American-made bomb making tools, medicine and copies of the Koran, as Daily Mail reports.
