Sinking of Dolgorae

A fishing boat carrying migrants trying to reach Europe capsized and sank Wednesday off the coast of Greece, leaving at least 79 dead and many more missing in one of the worst disasters of its kind this year.

At least 32 migrants drowned and 100 were rescued after their fishing vessel capsized off the town of Pylos in southern Greece, the coast guard said on Wednesday.

A total of 104 people have been rescued so far, according to authorities who estimate that over 400 passengers were on board when the vessel sank. 

Survivors were taken to the town of Kalamata, authorities said.
