Halkidiki fire brought under partial control
A wildfire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in a forested area of Sithonia, one of the three peninsulas of Halkidiki, northern Greece, was brought under partial control a few hours later, the fire service said.
A 30-strong team of firefighters with 11 vehicles is in the area of Pigadakia since the start of the blaze.

Authorities search for missing French tourist in Halkidiki
Authorities have launched a search operation in Toroneos Gulf, in Greece's northern Halkidiki region, to find a French tourist who was reported missing Tuesday.
Two Coast Guard boats and three private vessels are currently involved in the operation.

Efforts continue to assess damage from Halkidiki storm
Efforts continued on Friday to restore power to all parts of Halkidiki as state officials continued their assessments of a freak storm that killed seven people and injured scores more.
Farmer killed in tractor accident in Halkidiki
A 58-year-old man who had gone missing since October 30 in a region of the Sithonia peninsula in Halkidiki, northern Greece, was found dead on Thursday.
According to police, the man was fatally injured when the tractor he was operating overturned at a rural road near the village of Metagitsi.
The family of the farmer had alerted authorities on his disappearance on Tuesday.

Wildfire damage in northern Greece estimated at 700 hectares
Authorities in the Sithonia peninsula in northern Greece estimate the damage from a wildfire that started on the outskirts of the seaside town of Sarti last Thursday and was brought under control on Sunday, at 700 hectares of what is mostly forestland.
Blaze in Halkidiki brought under control
A large wildfire that burned swathes of pine trees in Sithonia, a peninsula in the northern Greek region of Halkidiki, was brought under control on Saturday, the fire service said.
The blaze started early on Thursday morning, apparently ignited by a tree falling on an electricity pylon, and spread quickly due to strong winds.

Large forest fire raging in Sithonia
A large wildfire burned an area covered with pine trees on the Sithonia peninsula in northern Greece on Thursday, with strong winds hindering the efforts of the fire fighters.
A force of 60 firemen with 30 vehicles along with numerous volunteer fire fighters was in the area since early morning, assisted by four Canadair aircraft.

Lightning sparks wildfires in northern Greece
Lightning sparked three wildfires in remote parts of the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the fire service.
Ground and air crews were battling blazes in the uplands of Kavourotrypes and Vourvourou on the Sithonia leg of the peninsula on Tuesday morning, after putting out another fire in Afytos on the Cassandra leg earlier.
