Schools in 10 Regions of the Country Closed over the Flu Outbreak
The Ministry of Education has announced that schools are closing down in 10 regions of the country over the flu outbreak. In three regions - Bourgas, Pernik and Shumen - all schools are closed, in seven regions only some.
As of today until 8 March, schools are closed in the municipalities of Kostinbrod, Svoge, Botevgrad, Pravets, Zlatitsa, Koprivshtitsa, and Sofia-region.
State of Emergency Declared in Silistra Because of African Swine Fever
From July 31 to Monday, August 5, a state of emergency was declared in the Northern Bulgarian region of Silistra because of a confirmed case of African Swine Fever in a pig-breeding farm in the village of Popina. The Regional Food Safety Directorate will organize a 12-hour inspection at slaughterhouses in Dulovo, Tutrakan, and Sitovo in the area.
First Case of African Swine Fever in Silistra, a Farm with 17,000 Animals Is Affected
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has established a new outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at an industrial farm in the village of Popina, Sitovo municipality, Silistra district. The positive samples were laboratory confirmed today, July 30, 2019, by the National Reference Laboratory at the National Diagnostic Veterinary Research Institute in Sofia.
Torrential Rains In Bulgaria Claim Another Life
Torrential rains in Vratsa on Thursday claimed the life of a 25-year-old shepherd, Vratsa Mayor Nikolai Ivanov told bTV national channel.
The man went missing on Thursday near the village of Tishevitsa and was found dead on Friday morning.
