Greece: Ferry Line from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Starts Operating from 1 June
A new ferry line will run three times a week from Thessaloniki to the Sporades Islands. The first ferries will depart on June 1, and the seasonal route will be available until September 15.
The Sporades is an island complex located in the northwest Aegean Sea and it includes the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and further south the island of Skyros.

A woman died on the western Aegean island of Skopelos after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm early on Tuesday afternoon.

Parts of country in state of emergency due to weather damage
Much of the prefecture of Magnisia as well as the island of Skopelos and the area of Pilio have been declared to be in a state of emergency following widespread damage wreaked by the bad weather over the weekend.
As temperatures plummet, snow covers mountainous regions in Greece
The regional authorities of Achaia, western Greece, were urging drivers on Thursday to use snow chains if travelling near the area of Kalavryta, as a cold front brought freezing temperatures around the country.
State-run news agency ANA-MPA reported that snow chains were required when travelling from Kalavryta to Diakopto, Patras and Halandritsa.
