Slam dunk

Local, European and USA acrobats showed off their slum dunking skills as Ljubljana hosted the 5th Acrobatic Basketball World Cup and Olympic trampoline competition on 7 August. Two members of Slovenia's Dunking Devils set a Guinness world record in the highest mini trampoline slum dunk.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns scored a record 29 points in the final round to capture the NBA All-Star Weekend's Three-Point Contest, holding off the sharpshooting duo of Trae Young and Luke Kennard.

The NBA dunk contest was a throwback in many ways, with a 21-year-old rookie and a 25-year-old, third-year pro fighting it out for the trophy.
