The Bulgarian Branch of Lidl Introduces New Kielbasa and Sausage Standards
The Bulgarian division of the German company Lidl introduces new higher standards for the quality of the sausage from their own brand that they offer. All sausages from the Pikok, Baroni and Dulano brands, as well as from the "Rodna Stryha" product line, are now produced without the use of mechanically separated meat, which reduces the use of improvers and thickeners, the company said.
Feline 'sausage thief' punished with cage
In the western province of Muğla's Bodrum's district, a stray cat, which was claimed to have stolen sausage from a grocery store chain, was put in a cage by the store's officials.

Romania Thanks EU for Awarding its Sausage
When at the start of a recent weekly briefing, the Romanian government spokesman offered journalists some slices of dry sausage, it was not only a surprising move but a sound PR stunt.
"We want to share the joy of this moment with you, as Sibiu Salami has just become a protected product in the European Union," spokeperson Dan Suciu told his audience.

A fat cat in western Turkey has shed more than five kilograms in four months after its owner hospitalized the pet.
Named "Ta? Kafa" (Stone Head), referring to a Turkish expression for a dumb person, the five-year-old cat was recently taken to the animal treatment center of Nilüfer district in the Bursa province by its owner.

Tatar's "ghiudem" about to get official status of traditional product
The ?ghiudem', a dry raw sausage prepared by Tatars of the southeastern Romanian province of Dobrogea, is about to be officially recognized as a traditional product, using a very old recipe.
