Sofia ring road

From today until June 30, a section of the cloverleaf interchange connecting "Bulgaria" Boulevard with the Sofia Ring Road (SOP) will be closed to traffic, as announced by the Sofia Municipality (SO).

The European Commission has given approval for the construction of nearly 33 km of the new "Europa" highway in the section connecting the Kalotina checkpoint on the border with Serbia and the ring road of Sofia. The investment of over 183 million euros from the EU Cohesion Fund will contributed to the better integration of the Bulgarian road system into the European transport network.

Construction on the expansion of the Southern arc of the ring road of the capital between Mladost and Trakia highway could begin by the end of the year, announced Regional Development Minister Petya Avramova during Friday's parliamentary oversight.

There are eight offers submitted by companies willing to build a 16 km section of Hemus Motorway in Northern Bulgaria, the Road Infrastructure Agency has said.
