Bulgaria's Trade Balance Turns Negative as Exports and Imports Fall

In 2023, Bulgaria's exports totaled 86.9 billion leva, reflecting a decline of 6.5% compared to the previous year. The National Statistical Institute reports that the most significant growth in exports occurred in January, with an 18% increase, while the steepest decline was seen in June, dropping by 15.5%.

Scientists develop hydrogel to combat drought in Mediterranean vineyards

Researchers at Mersin University (MEÜ) have developed a hydrogel aimed at protecting Mediterranean vineyards from the effects of drought.

The innovation is part of an international project supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and dubbed VineProtect, a collaborative effort involving universities in Portugal, Italy, Morocco and Türkiye.

Oil Prices Mark Decrease Following Agreement on Iran Nuclear Program

Oil prices have marked a decrease on international markets following the agreement reached Thursday upon the Iran nuclear program.

Analysts, however, have stated that they prognose a gradual decrease as opposed to a sudden shift in oil prices after Iran enters world markets once again, Dnevnik daily reported.

Bad timing for tenders as oil rates decline

The first major opening of the domestic hydrocarbon market happens to have coincided with the unexpected and rapid decline in global oil prices. This has raised concerns in the Energy Ministry about two tenders for the concession of 20 blocks in the Ionian Sea and south of Crete, as well as three blocks in Arta-Preveza, Aitoloakarnania and northwestern Peloponnese.
