Incentives to speed up returns on Turkish rooftop solar

Turkey can build on a new support scheme for rooftop solar projects by providing further incentives that would currently reduce the payback period by four years from the current 11-year estimate and down to two years by 2030, a new report by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) said on Dec. 19.

Report: Solar power generation soared in 2018

Photovoltaic units installed in Greece generated three times more power last year than a year earlier, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) reported on Tuesday, citing the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies.
The report said that new photovoltaic power units installed in 2018 had a total capacity of 41.1 megawatts compared to 12.9 MW in 2017 and 5.4 MW in 2016.

Air pollution throws shade on India's solar success

Air pollution is diminishing India's capacity to harness power from the sun, experts say, undermining billions being invested in renewables as the energy-hungry giant emerges as a solar superpower.

New research has found the smog and dust that sickens millions across India every year is also sapping solar power generation by more than 25 percent, far beyond levels previously thought.

NASA snaps pics of the world’s largest solar farm from space

With renewable energy on the rise, it makes perfect sense for the title “world’s largest solar plant” to change hands pretty quickly. In 2014 for example, the 550 MW Topaz Solar Farm held the title, to be toppled in November by a 648 MW plant in Kamuthi India. At this point in time, China’s Dam Solar Park has risen above them all with 850 MW of capacity. Sound like a lot?
