Turkish FM facilitates talks between Somalia, Ethiopia
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan mediated talks between his Somalian and Ethiopian counterparts on July 1 to alleviate diplomatic tensions between the east African neighbors.
Türkiye, Somalia sign defense cooperation deal
Türkiye and Somalia inked a defense agreement on Feb. 8, aimed at bolstering military cooperation and strengthening ties.
The Defense and Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement was formalized during an official visit by Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur to Ankara, where he met with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler.

Ethiopia, Somaliland agree deal on port access
Ethiopia has struck a "historic" agreement to use the main port in Somalia's breakaway region of Somaliland, as the landlocked country seeks more access to sea channels for shipping, officials said Monday.

Hadraawi, ‘Shakespeare of Somalia,’ dies aged 79
Award-winning Somali poet Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame, better-known by his pen name Hadraawi, died on Aug. 18 aged 79, prompting a flood of tributes to the "Shakespeare of Somalia."
Hadraawi died in a hospital in Hargeisa, the capital of the breakaway region of Somaliland, after battling ill health for the past seven years.
