Rescue operation for injured American tourist on Crete
A rescue operation is underway for a 60-year-old American tourist injured while hiking near Sougia on the southern coast of Crete on Tuesday evening.
The man was hiking with others toward the Lissos archaeological site when he lost his balance and injured his limbs, according to public broadcaster ERT.
Search underway for missing German hiker on Crete
A search and rescue operation is continuing on Crete for a 60-year-old German man who was reported missing on a hike on Friday.
The man had set out on the hike with two women on Friday along the Sougia trial towards the Trypti Gorge, in the south of the island, according to state broadcaster ERT.
Along the way, the other hikers lost track of the man and later raised the alarm.

German hiker missing since Sunday found dead on Crete
A 67-year-old German hiker who was reported missing on Sunday in Crete has been found dead, the sixth tourist death in June during a period of unusually hot weather.
The man's body was found in a ravine near Sentoni beach, on a path heading towards Trypti Gorge, on the southern coast of the island, in Hania prefecture, according to state broadcaster ERT.
Earthquake rattles Crete
A 4.9 magnitude earthquake shook Crete on Sunday morning at approximately 10.49 a.m. The quake's epicenter was identified 7 kilometers south of Sougia in the Hania administrative region, at a depth of 10.7 kilometers.
