What could be better than a 25-kilometer walk on Folegandros? A 50-kilometer walk on Folegandros! An ambitious effort is under way by the southeastern Aegean island's residents, its municipality, as well as the Network for Sustainable Greek Islands (DAFNI), which aims to use public funds for two very important projects.

The second largest island of the Dodecanese has no equal. It holds its past close: in its ancient acropolis, caves, churches and even its traditional dress. The setting is more than dramatic: stunning vistas from untouched, mountain-clinging villages that keep vigilant watch over the Aegean, despite being hammered by ferocious winds.

Greek painter Angela Petrova takes viewers on a journey to the Greek islands with her new exhibition, "Greekblue," on display in Amorgos. The artist's work is inspired by Mediterranean scenes, ranging from skyscapes to nature and sea stills, as well as the everyday activities of people living on the islands.

A little over a decade ago, a Greek and an Italian, two successful scientists in their fields who shared a passion for contemporary art, settled permanently in Paris. Eventually, the pair came up with the idea of using a Greek island as a visual terra incognita that could be rediscovered by artists.
