Bulgaria is set to extend humanitarian assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the wake of severe flooding that occurred on October 4, 2024.

Türkiye expressed condolences to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday in the wake of destructive floods and landslides that have claimed at least 17 lives, and pledged humanitarian aid to the Western Balkan nation.

BELGRADE- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday Serbia was ready to provide all the necessary assistance to the victims of the floods that have hit central Europe.

Turkey sent a plane late on Nov. 12 to help in a search and rescue operation for a Turkish national who went missing during heavy rain in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A US military aid offer could help Bosnia replace two ageing Russian helicopters, if only the country could agree on a vision for the future of its armed forces.

The Bosnian and Serbian authorities have started preparations for a follow-up donors' conference which will be held in Sarajevo on September 28, to look into what was has been achieved so far in terms of reconstruction after the catastrophic floods in May 2014.

The Commission decided to grant aid worth €16.2 million from the EU Solidarity Fund to Greece and Bulgaria following natural disasters that occurred in the winter of 2015. Greece suffered from wide-spread flooding affecting five of its regions, while considerable damage was caused in Bulgaria due to severe winter conditions.

More than 100 houses were inundated by water across central Bosnia on Sunday and Monday after several days of heavy rains and melting snow, sparking public concerns about a possible repeat of last year's flood disaster in the country.

Officials however urged calm, stressing that although most of Bosnia's rivers were on the rise, they were still far from critical levels.
