Speaker of the House of Commons

Parliament to convene on May 28

The Parliament elected in Greece's May 21 election will convene on May 28, four days than originally scheduled.

Following a government proposal, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou published a decree convening the Parliament for Sunday, May 28, instead of June 1.

The newly elected MPs will be sworn in at 6 pm Sunday and will elect the speaker at 10.30 pm on Monday.

Bulgaria’s Parliament Set to Shut

With 115 votes in favour and 65 against, MPs on March 26 accepted the proposal of the Parliament's Speaker, Tsveta Karayancheva, to temporarily suspend sittings. The measure is part of government efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Sittings will only be convened when emergency laws are adopted. Parliamentary questions time will be in writing.
