Events being held across Greece for European Mobility Week
European Mobility Week will be marked in different parts of Greece with events aimed at encouraging citizens to embrace more sustainable and eco-friendly forms of transport.
In Athens, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will be hosting a series of free events, including cycling classes for children.
May Roosevelt & Mechanimal | Athens | September 12
Greek composer and musician May Roosevelt, an expert on the theremin, one of the earliest electronic instruments, joins forces with Mechanimal, a local industrial audiovisual creative group, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center's (SNFCC) Labyrinth venue at 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 12.

Sutra | Athens | September 3-4
"Sutra" is a collaborative performance by choreographer Sidi Labri Cherkaoui, artist Antony Gormley and 19 Buddhist monks, honoring an ancient kung fu tradition with a musical score by Polish composer Szymon Brzoska. The multinational production, which will go on stage at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), was commissioned by the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London.

Ramon Valle | Athens | August 30
Renowned Cuban jazz musician Ramon Valle performs at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural (SNFCC) for one night only on Friday, August 30. Valle, a prodigy who began playing the piano at the age of 7, has been a member of several bands during his career, most recently working with Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Roy Hargove on the album, "The Time is Now," released in 2017.

Orquesta Akokan | Athens | August 2
Cuba's Orquesta Akokan is a musical collective composed of Havana's top mambo players, led by vocalist Jose "Pepito" Gomez, which pays tribute to the sonic styles made famous in Cuba in the 1940s and 50s with a modern take on Latin music.

Kilaidonis Tribute | Athens | July 20
A musical ensemble will honor the late and incredibly popular Greek singer-songwriter Loukianos Kilaidonis, on the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center's (SNFCC) Great Lawn. Backed by an eight-member band, a group of singers and actors will recreate the crooner's most loved tunes, as well as lesser-known tracks. The folk musician passed away in 2017.
