Bulgarian Minister of Defense: We will Categorically Not Send Troops to Ukraine

"We will categorically not send troops to Ukraine. The interpretations of the changes in the Law on Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria were extremely unsuccessful in a complex pre-election situation."

This was stated by the Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov on Bulgaria ON AIR TV.

The Bulgarian Military will buy 6 Refurbished MiG-29 Engines for 26.4 million Leva

The Ministry of Defense has issued a public order for the purchase of six refurbished engines for MiG-29 fighters. For the delivery of the engines, the military department has set aside BGN 26.4 million including VAT, according to a reference in the portal for public procurement.

Bulgaria has been Unable to Collect its Aircraft which was Sent for Repair to Ukraine

Due to the war in Ukraine, Bulgaria has not been able to collect the An-30 aircraft that was sent for repairs for months now. This was explained by the Acting Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov. The aircraft is not affected by the ongoing hostilities. But it cannot be returned either.

"Bulgaria does not have many surplus weapons, not to mention that it does not have many serviceable weapons. If we had, the army would not face such difficulties. We have a serious problem with the maintenance of the equipment and a large percentage of it is faulty. I don't see what we can give out of the serviceable equipment we have.

The Bulgarian Government will prepare a Compensatory Scheme for Businesses due to Gas Prices

Acting Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov stated that the government categorically supports the need for compensation for businesses due to the high prices of natural gas.
