UNICEF cuts Greek branch citing financial irregularities
The United Nations children's agency on Friday announced its decision to terminate its relationship with UNICEF's Hellenic National Committee after an audit prompted by reports from top-level economic officials at the local branch of irregularities in its finances.

The United Nations children's agency UNICEF has terminated its arrangement with the Hellenic National Committee, established in Greece as an independent non-government organization, "due to concerns arising out of a recent independent audit."

The International Monetary Fund has undercut the official forecast for 2.5 percent growth this year, speaking of just 2 percent in its World Economic Outlook, curtailing the government's hopes for a swift recovery. It also slashed the official estimate for 2.5 percent in 2019 to just 1.8 percent.
