Defense Minister Todor Tagarev has reassured the public that there are no issues surrounding the decision on the Stryker vehicles project in Bulgaria. His statement comes in response to concerns raised during the election campaign by GERB leader Boyko Borissov, who questioned the project's approval without the National Assembly's decision.

Defense Minister Todor Tagarev expressed his expectation that the purchase of American "Stryker" combat vehicles for the Bulgarian Army will be approved by the US Congress:

This proposed sale would support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to improve the security of a North Atlantic Treaty Organization ally.

The multinational NATO battle group in Bulgaria is conducting a large-scale exercise at the Novo Selo training ground.

The group was created last year to bolster the alliance's eastern flank following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The United States will send troops to Bulgaria for joint exercises and better interoperability said Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin.

"Bulgaria will accept an American company of armored personnel carriers "Stryker" from Germany for exercises," he was quoted as saying by WorldAkkam.

The convoy, consisting of armored personnel carriers and military equipment, was moving along a special border lane on the Hungarian-Romanian border.

This was confirmed today by the Romanian Minister of Defense, Vasile Dncu.
Dncu told reporters that the first 100 American soldiers are in Romania and that they are dealing with logistics, Reuters reports.
