In honor of World Refugee Day, the open-air Vox cinema in Exarchia will be hosting a free-entry screening of the multi-award-winning film "Mediterraneo: The Law of the Sea," directed by Marcel Barrena. The drama is based on a true story of the harsh reality of the refugee life. The film is in Greek, English and Spanish, with Greek subtitles.

Ordet | Athens | January 16
The Danish Institute in Athens (diathens.gr) is presenting a program of three screenings showcasing some of the country's finest talent. The series starts at 7 p.m. on January 16 with "Ordet" (The Word), a 1955 drama by Carl Theodor Dreyer. It will be screened in the original Danish with Greek subtitles.

KinderDocs | Athens | March 8
The Benaki Museum's Pireos Street annex presents the documentary "Open Window" in the context of the KinderDocs program. The documentary follows two young girls in India being introduced to the internet via their school's learning laboratory. It is English and Hindi and will be screened with Greek subtitles. There will be two projections on the same day at 12 noon and at 2 p.m.

The Hellenic American Union is hosting a series of screenings of contemporary Spanish cinema in an event aimed at showcasing the variety of its genres, themes and production value. This year's screening series comprises three fiction films and two documentaries, starting on Monday, November 4, with Elena Martin's 2017 "Julia Ist," a drama aimed audiences aged 12 and over.
