The Paralympics begin in Paris next week, putting on display the talents of remarkable athletes in a city still riding the wave of the highly successful Olympics.

A new generation of Paralympians will be joined by seasoned veterans competing in many of the same sensational venues in the centre of the French capital that hosted Olympic sports.

Turkish athletes have bagged the 11th medal on the seventh day of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, surpassing the 10 medal-record in the 2016 Rio Games.

Turkish Paralympic shooter Aysegül Pehlivanlar won a silver medal on Aug. 31 in the P2 women's 10m Air Pistol event. She won with a total of 234.5 points in the final.

Turkey's Recep Çiftçi bagged a bronze medal in men's Judo at 60kg, defeating Marcos Dennis Blanco of Colombia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games on Aug. 27, scoring Turkey's first medal at the Games.

Ljubljana – The Slovenian team for the 2020 Summer Paralympics, which will take place in Tokyo between 24 August and 5 September, presented itself to the press in Ljubljana on Monday. The team featuring seven athletes in seven sports was greeted by Japanese Ambassador Hiromichi Matsushima, who wished them all the best at the games.

Turkish paralympic athletes claimed 21 medals -- including five gold -- last week during international tournaments.
