Ioannis Sarmas appointed head of Greece’s Court of Audit

Ioannis Sarmas, 62, until now vice president at the supreme financial court of Greece, has been chosen as the new head of the Court of Audit for the next four years.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the cabinet on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Altana Kokkovou, Ioannis Maginas, Georgios Kontos, Aspasia Mayiakou and Avrokomi Thoua were appointed Supreme Court vice presidents.

Court exonerates former chief anti-graft prosecutor Kovesi of disciplinary offence

A five-judge panel of the Supreme Court of Justice on Monday denied an appeal filed by the Judicial Inspection, ruling that former head of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi did not commit a disciplinary offence when appointing her adviser, judge Dana Titian, to carry out an inspection at the DNA offices in Suceava and Iasi. The court's decision is final.

Appeal process in Ergenekon coup plan case underway

The appeal process in the marathon Ergenekon coup plot case has begun, as the colossal detailed ruling running some 16,600 pages has been sent to the top prosecutor of the country.

The file was sent to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals last week, state-run Anadolu Agency reported late on Aug. 13.
