Only 1% of Bulgarians Believe in the Independence of the Media in Bulgaria
Only 1% of Bulgarians find the media in Bulgaria to be completely independent, and 63% of our compatriots consider the media to be dependent in some way, it became clear during a forum "Media and Politics in Bulgaria", organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Greek workers pessimistic about the future
A survey commissioned by the GSEE umbrella union and published on Tuesday shows that 70 percent of workers in Greece aged 25 to 44 years old are pessimistic about the country's prospects and 66 percent have few hopes of seeing any improvement in their salaries in the next six months.

Four in five Greeks struggle to make ends meet
Eight in 10 Greeks are still struggling to make ends meet, despite the positive trend seen in economic indices, according to a survey released on Wednesday in Athens.
The survey carried out by polling firm MRB found that 68 percent of respondents were covering basic needs "with great difficulty," while 12.7 percent said they could no longer manage.

ND calls for watchdog to act over suspect opinion poll
New Democracy called on Tuesday on Greece's broadcasting watchdog to ensure that the law is upheld when opinion polls are conducted and published.
The conservatives complained to the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) after the publication of a survey by a polling company called Commonview, which indicated that New Democracy has a narrow lead over SYRIZA.
Sharp increase in global negative views of US
The US showed the most substantial decline in approval ratings of all countries polled this year, according to Country Ratings Poll for the BBC World Service. Double-digit increases in negative views of the US came from traditional allies.

How the French exit polling system works
The voting estimates given in French elections are not similar to the regular exit polls used in most countries. Unlike other countries which undertake exit polls based on asking people who they voted for, the French system, which had been in use since 1968 uses the actual vote count to reach a prediction.

Turkish poll firm closes after referendum prediction failure
The head of the Eurasia Opinion Research Center (AKAM), Kemal Özkiraz, has announced that he will close his survey company following its failure to accurately predict the April 16 constitutional referendum results.
Before the vote, Özkiraz had said he would close the company if the "yes" side won, adding that his surveys indicated the "no" side would win 53 percent of the vote.
Countdown to the referendum
The countdown has started. Can the country go down a one-man rule - however it might be described - or will the nation, despite the massive and official pro-"Yes" campaign, say it will not succumb to it and agree on giving up parliamentary democracy despite all its deficiencies? Regardless of what is said by both sides, there is an increasing excitement and some degree of confusion.
