The Suzhou Kun Opera Theater of Jiangsu Province in China comes to Athens's Herod Atticus on the invitation of the Greek Festival and as part of a program of cultural exchanges between the two countries, with the opera "The Peony Pavilion." Written by Tang Xianzu, this tribute to the 16th century Chinese Kun Opera form is a tale of love and tragedy. The performance starts at 9 p.m.

PM afforded "special honor" on train trip to Beijing
Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic and his counterparts from Eastern and Central European countries visited Beijing together with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang.
They on Wednesday traveled to the Chinese capital on a high-speed train from Suzhou via Shanghai.

Chinese PM Li Keqiang says cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries "will bring in new light that has to be directed at the future."
Li was addressing the opening of the China-CEES (Central and Eastern European countries) summit in Suzhou on Tuesday when he noted there are a few priorities to be discussed at this year's gathering.

Serbian PM tours China's Suzhou Industrial Park
Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic began a three-day visit to China on Tuesday by touring the industrial park in the city of Suzhou and bus maker Higer Bus.
The Suzhou Industrial Park was founded on February 26, 1994, when China and Singapore signed the agreement on the joint development of this administrative region.

An explosion at a factory in eastern China has killed at least 65 people, leaving over 100 injured, according to Chinese state media.
The blast occurred on Saturday morning in a metals factory in Kunshan, a city in the eastern province of Jiangsu, China's official Xinhua news agency said.
