Over fifty thousand colorful lights were lit Wednesday night at the iconic Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, drawing warm applause from the crowds gathered to watch the annual tradition in New York City.

Crowds of tourists gathered in downtown Manhattan with enhanced security measures to light the lights of New York's largest Christmas tree.

The tree is 23 meters high and weighs over 12 tonnes. At its top is a star with 25,000 Swarovski crystals and its decoration includes 50,000 lights.

The laciest, if not raciest, catwalk event of the year - the Victoria's Secret fashion show - took place on Nov. 30 in Paris. Among the takeaways: Performances by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid joining forces, as well as a $3 million fantasy bra modelled by Jasmine Tookes. 

John Floriniotis is known for his particular sense of design. Some would say it is on the side of kitsche but there’s no denying his attraction to anything that shines. Hence, he decided to decorate his Alfa Romeo with 1,000 Swarovski crystals.

He spent a small fortune embedding the miniature crystals into the upholstery.
