Ousted Syrian Leader Assad Speaks Out After Damascus Falls

Former Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad has issued his first public statement since his regime was toppled earlier this month. Shared via the Syrian presidency's Telegram channel, Assad defended his leadership and claimed he never intended to leave Syria, asserting that his departure occurred only after rebel forces overtook Damascus.

Protesters hang rebel flag at Syrian embassy in Athens

Protesters broke into the Syrian Embassy in the northern Athens suburb of Psychiko early Sunday, hung the Syrian opposition flag on the building and removed a photo of President Bashar al-Assad, Greek authorities said.

The group included three to four individuals, two of whom left voluntarily before police intervened. Officers arrested the remaining protesters inside the building.
