Turkish forces have neutralized a senior member of the PKK in the al-Zab region of Iraq's Kirkuk governorate during a recent operation, according to an announcement made by the Defense Ministry.

Almost all of the 240 scientific excavations, caried out under the direction of Turkish and foreign scientists and museum directorates with the permission of the Culture and Tourism Ministry started in July. By the end of 2023, the number of all archaeological excavations and research will be 750.

Following a two-year restoration work in line with its original texture, a historical school building called Taş Mektep (Stone School) in Istanbul's Princes' Islands has opened its doors to visitors 45 years after being abandoned.

Turkish singer Atilla Taş and journalist Murat Aksoy were jailed once again on March 8 for their suspected links to the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), according to a judicial source.

An Istanbul prosecutor sought two aggravated life sentences each for 13 suspects including popular Turkish singer Atilla Taş and journalists Murat Aksoy and Gökçe Fırat Çulhaoğlu over their alleged involvement in the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, in a fresh indictment submitted to court on June 6, Doğan News Agency has reported.

An Istanbul court on March 31 ordered the release of famous singer Atilla Taş and 20 others after being under arrest over alleged links to the Gülen movement, widely believed to have orchestrated the July 2016 coup attempt.   

The trial into the "media leg" of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), widely believed to have orchestrated the July 15, 2016 failed coup attempt, has begun in Istanbul with a total of 29 suspects. 

Istanbul prosecutors on Jan. 18 demanded up to 10 years in prison for 28 suspects, including popular Turkish singer Atilla Taş, over alleged links to what they call the "Fethullah Terror Organization (FETÖ)."
