ENFIA row rumbles on after charity hit with big tax bill
The row over the troublesome unified property tax (ENFIA) continued on Thursday as coalition partner PASOK said that childrens charity Smile of the Child was incorrectly asked to pay the levy.
PASOK said the Finance Ministry had made a mistake in sending a bill to the charity after its president, Costas Giannopoulos, revealed that its property tax bill came to almost 95,000 euros.

Successful fight against oil smuggling
BELGRADE - Serbia's budget revenues coming from excise taxes on oil derivatives will rise by around RSD 17 billion this year, while revenues from excise taxes on tobacco products will drop by RSD 24 billion, according to the latest estimates by the Fiscal Council.

Property tax surplus may lead to more installments or cuts

The government is considering an increase in the number of installments allowed for the payment of the new Single Property Ownership Tax (ENFIA) for 2014 and to reduce its size from 2015 if the amount taxpayers are asked to pay exceeds that provided for by the budget.
More delays and red tape for companies’ tax rebates

The General Secretariat for Public Revenues has added one more bureaucratic obstacle to the efforts of cash-starved enterprises to secure liquidity, as a new regulation stipulates that they will have to wait an additional month for their income tax rebates and before that to submit a handwritten application for it at their local tax office.
Wait is still on for many taxpayers

Some 200,000 taxpayers are still waiting for their income tax declarations, which were submitted in time, to be processed, while a number of other problems are putting the payment of the first tranche, by July 31, in jeopardy for many.
