Eastern Turkey's ancient city of Ani is a link in healthy ties between Ankara and Tbilisi, said Turkey's ambassador to Georgia on Aug. 5.

Bulgaria and Georgia will cooperate on Antarctica. In Tbilisi, the two countries have negotiated a formal agreement for joint action between the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Georgia says a Chechen jihadist killed in a clash with special forces in the Georgian capital Tbilisi was the suspected organiser of a terror attack on Istanbul airport last year, reported BBC. 

Akhmed Chatayev, a member of so-called Islamic State (IS), was among three militants killed during a 20-hour siege in Tbilisi a week ago.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has said that his country maintains the position not to recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

Kvirikashvili also urged Serbian businesspeople to take advantage of Tbilisi's incentives offered to foreign investors.

Turkey's state-run Ziraat Bank will offer services in neighboring Georgia under a new institution called JSC Ziraat Bank Georgia, it announced on May 2.        

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is expected to be ready by early summer, Transport, Maritime and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan said March 6.   

"We want to start diesel locomotive by completing its construction within two months followed by testing for two months," Arslan added.        

The Baku-Tiflis-Kars (BTK) railway, which connects three countries, will be finalized by the end of this year, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu said on Feb. 19. 

The foreign ministry of Georgia issued on Wednesday a note of protest to Russia over the illegal installation of banners marking the so-called "state border" of the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

At least 12 people were killed and 24 are missing after deadly floods which hit the Georgian capital of Tbilisi and caused massive damages to the city.

The Georgian PM declared the 15th of June as a day of mourning for the victims of the natural disaster which hit George over the weekend.
