Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has stated that in the last 10 years, 1 billion passengers have traveled with Marmaray, an undersea railway tunnel connecting Europe and Asia via the Bosporus Strait.

A net 370,000 tons of goods have been transported via the Marmaray tunnel that connects Istanbul's Asian and European sides in a year, according to numbers of the TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. of the Transportation Ministry.

TÜVASAŞ, a subsidiary of Turkey’s State Railways (TCDD), will hire 19 engineers to work on the country’s domestic train development project.

The Turkish State Railways (TCDD) introduced on June 2 connections to Belgrade and Bucharest on the Istanbul-Sofia Express, which was launched on Feb. 20.      

According to the announcement on the TCDD website, the express train between Istanbul and the Bulgarian capital Sofia started making stops in the Romanian capital Bucharest on June 2.      

Turkey's Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Ahmet Arslan has announced that a new train line between Istanbul and Bulgaria's capital Sofia will start its journeys on Feb. 20, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
