About 60 series are filmed annually in Türkiye that have made Istanbul and other Turkish cities familiar to viewers in nearly 170 countries around the world.

Over the past 15 years, Türkiye has established itself as the foremost exporter of series after the United States and Britain.

Turkey has achieved what many other countries yearn for: conquering Hispanic audiences.

In countries including Brazil, considered the birthplace of telenovelas, characters named Zeynep, Elif and Ömer have come to replace names such as Maribel, Esmeralda and Victor Manuel.

Turkish drama series “Kara Sevda” (Endless Love) won Best Telenovela at the 45th International Emmy Awards on Nov. 21.

Turkey has exceeded $100,000 million in return from Turkish TV drama exports in recent years, and is now getting ready to collaborate with Latin American countries to enhance the industry, daily Hürriyet has reported.  

The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) has been in efforts to mobilize and increase the contribution of Turkish dramas to tourism and trade. 

The tortured romance between Şehrazat and Onur, the central drama of Turkish soap opera "Thousand and One Nights," is taking Chilean television by storm and reshaping prime time in Latin America, the land of the "telenovela."
