Suicide bombers cornered by security forces in a hideout in eastern Sri Lanka blew themselves up in a raid which left 15 people dead, including six children, police said on April 27.

An explosive device wounded a police officer and a civilian when it detonated outside a church in central Athens early yesterday, police and state media said.

Gunmen attacked a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz on Sept. 22, killing at least 24 members of the elite Revolutionary Guard and wounding 20 others, state media said.

One policeman was killed and 22 people were injured in a suicide bombing targeting ballot boxes in Iraq's northern Kirkuk province on July 1, according to a local police officer.

A Daesh (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into a ballot box warehouse south of the Kirkuk province, police captain Hamed al-Obeidi told Anadolu Agency.

At least four people were killed this night in a suicide attack in Baghdad, the BNR reported.

"Suicide bomber exploded after being surrounded by policemen near a park in the Shaalah district," in the north of the Iraqi capital, a communique of the security command said.

Authorities report nearly a dozen injured. No one has taken responsibility for the attack.

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a voter registration center in the Afghan capital Kabul on April 22, killing at least 31 people and wounding dozens as they waited to receive identity cards, officials said.
